We left the house at about 8.40 to meet some members at Poplar services and take
them to Winsford. Ian was waiting for us in McDonalds and later I got a call from
Phil to say he was having trouble getting his bike out of the garage. He said he
would meet us at Winsford. There were six bikes with one pillion waiting for us at
Winsford. Phil and Nicola arrived and needed food and a drink, so we got away about
half an hour late.
As we left Congleton on the A54, we seemed to be the only traffic on the road and
were able to make reasonable progress. It went a bit cold over the hills toward Buxton,
Malc said his temperature guage read two degrees. Well it is the middle of winter
in one of the bleakest parts of England.
When we reached Matlock we chose not to visit the museum because we didn’t have enough
time for parking. Maybe Derbyshire council should review their policies for motorcycle
parking if they want us to visit their museums.
The return trip was via Buxton, Leek and Macclesfield and finishing at Poplar services
where we stopped for a drink before heading home.
Another fantastic days riding with fantastic company.
